Canada prepares and follow an immigration plan and set target for the number of immigrants for each category and also take suggestions from each provinces and territories that helps them to distribute benefit of immigration across the country and select applicants for their economic contribution, humanitarian needs and to reunite families.
Provinces and territories select a growing number of immigrants in the economic category. Under the Canada-Quebec Accord, Quebec is responsible for selecting economic immigrants and some of the refugees that come to the province.
These provinces have opened their doors and are welcoming applicants to come live & work in their province to fill the shortage of skilled labor and experienced individuals. These provinces have a special arrangement with the Immigration, Canada (IRCC) that gives them the permission to nominate skilled immigrants for a permanent residency program to their province.
Ontario PNP (OINP)– follows a selection system based on scores and occupation in demand to select candidates from the express entry pool, highly demand occupation keeps on changing depend on the shortage list of occupation.
Manitoba PNP (MPNP)– Requires an Immediate relative or friend to sponsor, follows ranking system like Express Entry Pool and applications are selected based on scores.Saskatchewan (SINP)
Alberta PNP (AAIP) - Effective June 14, 2018, the AINP has implemented a new Alberta Express Entry Stream. This stream will allow Alberta to nominate a limited number of qualified applicants from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system. Qualified candidates will be selected directly from the Express Entry pool by Alberta. Candidates who have demonstrated strong ties to Alberta and who can help support the government’s economic development and diversification priorities will receive a Notification of Interest from Alberta. Alberta selects other applicants also through Alberta rural renewal program, Alberta opportunity stream etc.
British Columbia PNP (BCPNP)– Requires a valid job offer from a B.C. employer, highly in demand occupations are related to IT, Health, teacher etc.
Quebec PNP – Till date they are taking years and years to process the applications and applications are assessed on the basis of the latest prevailing criteria, no matter when it was submitted. It means you can never judge what criteria’s will be applicable on your submitted application. Effective August 02, 2018 they have introduced a "Declaration of Interest" system alike express entry pool system where they will continuously select individuals to apply for COQ who have a profile that meets the socio-economic needs of the regions of Québec.
Nova Scotia PNP (NSPNP) - Nova Scotia PNP program has different categories, for international worker, they selects candidates from express entry pool as per their occupation –in-demand, currently Nurses, construction worker are high in demand in the province.
New Bruinwick PNP (NBPNP)- currently only accepting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the PNP Express Entry Labour Market Stream from individuals employed in New Brunswick or applicants who demonstrate French as a first language or a high degree of proficiency, proven by a Test d’évaluation de français (TEF), and with experience in one of the occupation from in-demand in list.
Prince Edward Island – Accepting EOI and which is not an PNP or PR application, but an indication of your interest in being considered to apply to the PEI PNP Express Entry. PEI reserves the right to limit intake or make exclusions from Expressions of Interest draws.
NewFoundLand & Labrador PNP (NLPNP) The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) allows the Province to nominate applicants who meet established criteria, for Permanent Residence. The NLPNP offers an efficient immigration process for qualified skilled workers, international graduates, entrepreneurs and their families who wish to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador; and Assistance from provincial Immigration Program Development Officers who are available to explain the program requirements, and guide applicants throughout the application process.
Northwest Territories (NWTNP) To immigrate here through the Northwest Territories Nominee Program, you need to either be ready to open, purchase or invest in a business in the NWT or have a job offer from an employer in the NWT.
Yukon Nominee Program (YPP) The Yukon Nominee Program accepts applications for nominee candidates both inside and outside of Canada. To qualify for the Yukon Nominee Program, you must have a full-time and year-round job offer from an eligible Yukon employer; and meet the specific criteria of your application stream.
